Thanksgiving Menu 2010

November 24, 2010

So, this year it’s just Jason and I (and Jesse too). One would think that when it’s just two people we’d just head out to dinner at a restaurant for the holiday, but nope, we’re making the same feast as usual here at home. Last year we really enjoyed cooking with each other (regular nights it’s just me and once in a while he’ll take a turn) and we’re going to keep up the tradition again this year. So, on our menu for this Thanksgiving are the following: Turkey (roasted in the oven with just butter, salt, and pepper, perhaps a little rosemary and garlic) and gravy Pioneer Woman’s Mashed Potatoes Carrots with brown sugar and butter Dressing (well, Stovetop Stuffing, the only kind Jason likes) Evie’s Rolls by Lynn Jellied Cranberry Sauce (yes, the goop out of a can) 2 Apple Pies using this crust and this filling and this crumb topping. One is for us and we’ll take the other to the guys who are standing duty tomorrow – working all night so that everyone else can be home with their families. Last but not least, this fudge, because even though fudge is a Christmasey thing to...

Menu Plan – December 2009

Catching Up

Catching Up

I have been incredibly absent around here lately. I made my big huge photo-laden post right after I returned home from a week in California, then I planned October’s menu – that’s it, all I’ve done in the past month. That is absolutely pitiful blogging and for the four people or so who read this, I am so very sorry. In a lame attempt at some excuses: 1) I was exhausted from finishing my first trimester of this pregnancy, 2) I’ve been busily preparing my son’s room for him to come home to us this week, and 3) I’ve been doing crazy lots of crocheting.   Item number 1: First Trimester of Pregnancy. As I’ve mentioned from time to time on Twitter and Facebook, this pregnancy has been different in every single way from my first. With my first baby (Jeremy) I had no morning sickness (aside from a reaction to taking my iron supplement with a glass of milk), with this baby I was ill all day every day for the few couple of months. All that changed as I headed into the second trimester (last week) and I’m so very happy for that. I feel like my old self...

Independence Day weekend

July 2, 2009

I know, I know, I need to get around to writing up my wedding day post. My brand new husband has been reminding me daily, it’s just going to take some time to put those experiences down into words. Not to mention that I don’t have any photos yet. Jason showed me a few that a friend put on her MySpace page, but since I no longer have an account there, I can’t grab them. I don’t want to put up my wedding post without pictures, that just wouldn’t be right. So, I have to wait. Anyhow, I want to stay at least somewhat relevant after having taken almost all of this week off from posting, so I’m going to toss out our plans for the holiday weekend. I’m off work at 2 pm today (which explains why I’m typing this up just after 2:00), so I’ll be getting home two hours earlier than usual. Hooray for free time off from my employer’s CEO! Once I get home, we’ll enjoy the wonderful beef stew that Jason and I prepared last night and he turned on in the crock pot this morning. Then we’ll pack an overnight bag and load...
